So a LFS in my area is closing and I bought a few pieces of their equipment for dirt cheap but it’s been woefully uncared for , I scrubbed for a long time to clean the dual reactors and the IV sterilizer but my tank now has cyano on the sand bed.... the tanks they we were hooked up to had a lot of issues and now I’m fighting that, I also got an mp10 from them that’s caked it algae so I’m soaking it in vinegar is there anything else I should do before I put that in the tank ? Also anyone have a good way to get rid of cyano?

Scrub off as much of that algae as you can, then continue the vinegar soak. If you could get it in a larger container and drop in a small pump for water movement it'll get clean faster. Otherwise just give it a light scrub once in a while. 24hr+ wouldn't be crazy.

Get a very stiff bristle brush or pipe cleaner. Soak in extremely hot water and vinegar for about 20 min and start scrubbing. It will come off fairly quickly after that.
