Does anyone do prophylactic tank transfer with new arrivals? My thought process is if I add new arrivals to my QT and ich shows up, i will have to do tank transfer and then completely break down my qt and kill off my established filter. I dont intend to use copper and have had success with tank transfer after ich showed up in my display prior to QT fish.

I use rubbermaid totes for my TT which are easy to clean and break down vs a regular glass tank.

I do SOMETHING to all new arrivals. If I am CERTAIN it does not have velvet, I will do Hypo or TTM before they ever make it to my tank. I sometimes use cupramine AND full tank transfer to be extra safe. I would rather kill my new fish than kill off my plethora of existing fish in a tank. Think of it as a "cost of doing business" to keep your current inhabitants safe. Each of my tanks has more money than I am comfortable disclosing worth of fish in it and I want to ensure they stay healthy and happy. Risking new arrivals is a necessary evil.
I hope this sort of answers your question.

QT should be done on all fish and is hopefully being done prophylactically.

i was asking if tank transfer is ok to do prior to QT for observation. I have a qt set up and cycled and I was wanting to know if I could do tank transfer method before i put the fish into cycled QT so I didnt have to break down the QT and clean it and dry it if ich showed up.
