Does anyone have experience with ProStar Rimless Aquariums?

Just saw them advertised on LiveAquaria and they seem like a pretty good deal, $2,261.75 delivered for a 220 gallon tank with stand and sump, regular or peninsula style.

I do like those dimensions with decent tank stand height.

It looks like a pretty fair deal to me.

Anyone have any first hand experience with them, build quality, etc...?

Thanks.

There is a build thread with one kicking around, FWIW it is NOT a 220 Gallon tank, but closer to 170ish. The 220 gallon is total system volume if the tank, sump and ATO tank were full to the max.

Build thread below...

Another quick thread about them....

Sorry for the late reply, didn’t see the thread till now. As the link states I just started a build. Let me know if you have questions.

@Big C
Where did you purchase the tank from? Which online vendors sell the larger tanks? I can only find the 110. Thanks!

I’m not sure if you got the tank yet but pro-clear just released their new line of their pro-star rimless systems and I’m happy i called pro-clear months ago before my purchase because they were very clear to me as that I should wait for this new model and let me tell you it’s amazing with an amazing price and an amazing warranty.

I also purchased mine from aquatic sea life because they had free shipping.
Win. Win. Win.

Did you ever purchase this tank? Or decide on something else (if so, what?)
The move is delayed for now. If I need to move, this tank will get first consideration!

Just picked up the 230 from Biggs Lagoon a few days ago, Haven't had delivery yet and it will be a few months before it goes up but from what I have seen so far I like it

I was looking at the 230 Gallon ProStar Rimless Peninsula Aquarium in Black from LiveAquaria. So far when I was comparing Red Sea and Waterbox the price made huge difference. Less than 1k as far as the price.:):)

Always,

Jay

After getting mine wet and set up the only thing that I can complain about is that the power bar it comes with is a joke. Picked up 2 better spaced out power bars The filter sock situation... if you dont mind having 6 of them then no problem.

I see this post is about a year old but it just popped up. I have the Prostar 90 - about 2 months into. I went searching for the Red Sea and ended up with the prostar. I don’t have much to compare between the two but I do like quality of the cabinet - glass in the doors for example. Sump has been great - might be a little cramped for filter socks, fuge, and skimmer - I do not have a skimmer.

Hey @ppatches24, was just talkin with Pro Clear about the power today, and we are most likely going to switch out the 5 outlet for an 8 outlet. Hopefully going with a Surge Protector version as well, but still uncertain. Have to work out pricing on them because we don't want to change the price of the tank itself.

Any more feedback let us know, it's how we improve

@ppatches24 thank you for the little detail information about the Power bar that came with. That's also the detail I saw in the picture about the power bar. This will give the idea about that. Can the power bar be remove and replace with different one? Can you take a picture closer to get an idea what is looks like. I was looking at the site and other dealer that sell them and they have the picture, but too small to see it.

As far as the sump that came with it, I will not be using that cause I will put a different sump. Can you give me the measurement dimension of that all sump as I was looking at the site with detail measurement, but did not find the dimension of the all sump. Thank you ahead of time as this will give the idea's how big I can fit when I put a custom sump.

Always,

Jay

Yeah the power bar is screwed in with a few screws and can easily be removed. The picture is the ones I replaced it with. I already e cycled the other power bar - but it was just a really standard **** power bar. For the sump the space down below that would be usable for a custom one would be 1'10'' front to back and 5' long give or take a couple inches on the Length depending on how much room you want on the left or the right.
