I got a green Goniopora about a month ago. It was doing great for the first week then I noticed it was closed up most of the time. Not constantly, but half the time I'd look at it it would be open, the other half the time completely closed up.
I started paying more attention and saw some of the tentacles were missing. Finally I caught the mimic tang nipping it, then the powder blue had a turn.
I've since put it in a breeder box (from freshwater days) and have a piece of egg crate over the top to protect the majority of it although some of the polyps stick through the top. The tangs left it alone for over a week so I took it back and they started again.
Is there any reasonably good looking way to protect this coral from the tangs or am I faced with getting rid of one or the other?
Will putting it in a location that is not in their flight path be enough to keep them away from it?
