I am moving to another house out of state; (I discuss my moving plan here: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/critique-my-moving-plan-ahead-of-time.337611/).

Due to the nature and timing of the move, we are renting this home for a year and renting ours out here as well. The Landlord is totally cool with my keeping a 210 gallon fish tank, and the house has a converted garage that is a perfect Fish Room!

The challenge is the room is carpeted. I have never had a tank on a carpeted floor before: saltwater spills are just part of the expectation when I work with the tanks.

I am wondering what the best course of action is for placing the tank. I realize a big spill will be bad no matter what, but am trying to prevent the day to day stuff that on my tile floor I just throw a towel down for.

My wife suggested cutting some plywood and a sheet of laminate flooring a foot wider on all 4 sides to place under it. Any thoughts?

I was also considering some sort of liner for the cabinet the sump and equipment sits in, but do not have any great ideas on that, yet.

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Yoga mats work really well. The really thin ones. I roll one out in front of my 90 every time I do a water change, etc. Keeps our new hardwood floors looking new. Hope this helps. Cheers!
