Protecting my Tank from exterminator

I have a 40g breeder in a one bedroom apartment. I have been having a cockroach problem (a few times in my cupboards a week) and its gotten to the point where a exterminator needs to be called in. Now this tank has no lid, I just need some advice on what to do. I don't want them bombing the whole place because I think they sre conming from one area but any advice would be great.

I lost all of my crustaceans after a fumigation treatment for spiders a few years ago. I covered the tank with plastic wrap but kept the skimmer on. I think that is why I lost all of the crustaceans. I was concerned about oxygen levels droping with the tank covered in plastic. I should have shut it down.

Unless your fogging it should just be bait. I prefer vendetta plus or maxforce impact. Vendetta has growth regulators built in. It stops the babies from becoming adults. Stops adults from having babies. It makes the females drop egg capsules early and start feeding again.
Liquids and aerosols should stay away from the tank. Baits will more than handle the roaches. I'm more concerned about the apartments around you. Any questions please reach out.
I've treated many of homes for roaches around fish & reptiles with out incident.

Thank you so much for the response. My neighbors don't seem to see them. I have a bird and a dog but i am very thorough with daily cleaning but they are around the bird cage and on the opposite side in the kitchen its wild. So you just recommend traps?

Baits. traps just tell you there's a problem, population size and location. Its designed for roaches. Just to be honest your neighbors wouldn't tell you if they have an issue. 99% of the time its the neighbors fault.
Most common place to find roaches is around refrigerator, dish washer, sink and coffee pot.

I have a bird

Your bird is just as vaularble to pesticides as your tank. Roaches will feed on the droppings and food. Very diligent keeping these areas clean

I used a place called eco care pest solutions. Explained my tanks. He used a product with a pinpoint applicator inside and out, never a problem. I had moisture ants which are as damaging as termites. I was concerned about having to tent and he said they don't really need to do that anymore with the right product unless your house has been completely saturated with moisture down to the framing for a long time. I did need to remove the wall paneling in the basement to remove dead ants/nest and dry the framing. This was a 1920 house so no sealed concrete/French drains. For simple cockroaches any reputable company should handle it no problem with a monthly contract to spray. The key I learned with cockroaches after years living in various apartments. Clean up every source of food, behind fridge, stove, etc... Force those buggers to find a food source elsewhere and no chemicals are needed

Thats not true roaches are adaptible in our homes. Toothpaste residue, a crumb behind the stove or fridge, glue from boxes. To keep a house so clean a roach wouldn't find food is impossible. A clean house makes it easier to rid a home of roaches.

Reproduction is extremely fast one female will produce an egg capsule containing above 40 babies. Takes roughly 30 day - 100 days to reach maturity.

I can't tell you who do use as a pest control company. Just remember no matter the company the work is only as good as the person preforming the work. Also ask for a week follow up. Its really important

No, you just make it difficult and they move to the neighbors that is less clean
