I have a Nuvo 20. I just added a Eshopps Nano Protein skimmer to the back chamber. I’m now seeing a large amount of micro bubbles.

Any suggestions or someone experience before?

I experienced this. I was told to let it settle in because it was new and it would go away.

However, I unhooked it and hooked it back up and they went away.

It's hard to recommend actions on skimmers until they've run in for a week or two. Assuming no unusual noises or no bubbles if course.

New skimmer will need some time before it is ready to peform as the bubble engine. During this period, maybe it's better to take out the collection cup as you may overflow it.

However this skimmer you can dial the water level by dragging the magnet up or down.
Usually if you want drier skimmate, then make the bubble level 0.5-1" below the neck level without skimmer cup. Then put the cup back on.

Take it off and run in a bucket of citric acid to clean off manufacturing oils
White vinegar will work too. But repeated use of vinegar over time will degrade the plastic in equipment. So get some citric acid for all those future pump cleanings. :) One time vinegar wash will be ok.

Figure most beginners may not have citric acid.

The concept to let it run a while to “break in” makes sense, maybe even ties to the suggestion to remove manufacturers oils from product. I did reduce my pump speed (to the main Nuvo pump), which seems to have reduced the micro bubbles slightly. No suggestions in user manual. I’ll give it a few days and see how it looks. I April the input!

Side note. The protein skimmer will only go “so far” down the back on the chamber. I raised the water level higher (and raised the ato sensor). The water level had dropped during the day, and the skimmer seemed to be less efficient. So I am wondering if the water lever may have affected.
