Well I was asleep and woke up to my ato alarm going off. One of my power strips was tripped unplugged my blue line pump. Clicked strip to reset was good for 30 seconds plugged in pump then popped the breaker in the basement. Un plug everything switch power strip after resetting breaker and plug in everything skimmer is last one. Popped the breaker again. I hate waking up to that alarm. Why would it just all the sudden lock up I know the skimmer is 3 plus years old. I have no clue what kind of skimmer it is.
So I have tank running without skimmer for a few days untill I get a newer skimmer on the way or just treat myself to a reef octopus 150sss I am getting a trigg reef sump in November either the emerald 26 or 30. I wanted to upgrade skimmer as well. Just didn't want to spend extra cash with paying for my fiance and I wedding.

You could probably just replace the pump. But I would probably take the opportunity to buy a new one.

That's what I was thinking just upgrade. One of my buddy's told me to go with a eshopps it's like $150 for a skimmer rated for 200 gallons. I have a 90 display with a 20 gal sump now. 100 gallons total volume

All depends on your budget. I would go with the Reef Octopus.

Buy something good. Reef octopus or skimz. I have an external skimz and love it. It pulls out sewer water. The cup smells so bad that I know when it needs cleaned out before even looking at it

Yea I might just go to the 170 model reef octopus I have mainly sps in the tank

Too bad you just missed the marinedepot skimmer sale.

I know errrrrr... which model should I do tho? Any imput is appreciated should I do a elite? A 5 inch a 6 inch?

The skimmer that your replacing is a Euroreef skimmer. They are fantastic skimmers and in there day were top of the line. Going to be some big shoes to fill replacing it.

There are a few things in this hobby you never should skimp on. Make sure you replace it with another top shelf skimmer. The money upfront will save you a lot with years of faithful service.

It did skim like a champ but I don't wanna kick my self in the butt for buying a skimmer to small for the tank

I still currently still use a Euroreef skimmer. If I had to replace mine I would seriously consider Deltec skimmers. I've heard a lot of good things about them.

I have reef octopus and it is great skimmer for that money. But now i would buy Tunze 9410. Great skimmer and cheap. You have reveiw if skimmer compared to RO 200 internal and Tunze is winner but cheaper for 20 %. Also quiteer the RO. Have nwb 200 and i made diy silencer for it but still you can hear little hum sound of pump. Tunze on the other hand if you belive reviews is dead silent.

I know a lot of people recommend the Reef Octopus skimmers, but the SRO-3000INT I had didn't even make it two years. The body looked like hell due to a lot of crazing, glue joints fell apart on the venturi, and finally the pump died.. all in about 18 months time. I was honestly happy the day I tossed it in the trash, because on top of all that it never skimmed that consistently.

I think I might pull the trigger on the tunze 9410 for $329 I don't think I can go wrong reviews look good what do you guys think
