Protein skimmer for a budget build

Hey guys, I was wondering what kind of protein skimmers you would recommend for a 40 gallon reef tank, I don’t want to waste my time on something that’s not going to work but I also don’t want to buy one that costs an arm and a leg. Any info is appreciated!

Check out the skimz skimmers on bulk reef supply. I have the smaller one for my 40 breeder and it works great. It has a controllable dc pump which is real nice too
