Protein Skimmer Help

I just got a Remora skimmer for my 50gal tank with the maxi-jet 1200 pump. It (like my old skimmer) overskims, producing and collecting too much white foam no matter how I adjust the collection cup. Is this being caused by oils, organic material in the water, or maybe the dechlorinator I'm using? Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks! [emoji4]

Probably the dechlorinator. I would put a decent RO/DI unit on your wish list since chlorine isn't the only thing that might be in your tap water, i.e. copper, lead, etc.
