Protein skimmer help

I have an eshoppes HOB protein skimmer. When I start it up at first it looks like it’s working and the bubbles begin to build up and junk is going to the collection cup. After a few min it stops bubbling up and just seems to be running without doing anything. I have a horrible protein film on the water and I definitely need this thing to do it’s job. Do I just need to be patient and let it run? Is there something I’m missing? Ugh. I hate this thing pictures is the model I believe I have..... lol

I had a problem like this with mine and had to replace the motor. Try taking it out and cleaning the insides of it since some gunk could be preventing it from operating. If this doesn’t work, I got one from eBay for about about $78 I think.
