I'm looking to upgrade my bubble magus curve 5 currently running in my reefer 170 sump , the skimmer running very insufficient because the water level its required is 9.5-11 and my sump only 7-8 , and I'm debating between the reef octopus 110sss space saver or the aquamaxx fc-80, which of the two you guys would recommend? Budget is around 200-300 and it's for the reefer 170 with limited sump space, also any other skimmer you guys recommend beside those two? Thanks !

i'm a big fan and proponent of Reef Octo skimmers and equipment. So my vote is the 110 octo for sure. I have a hob skimmer by them and it works great. I have only heard and seen good performance from their other lines

Is your skimmer loud or pretty quiet?

Go with the octo very solid skimmers. I had an fc 120 on my reefer 350 and it felt like a toy and very small collection cup.

I was also looking at the skimz123 what you guys think which of the three should I get

A Vertex 180i would do wonders in that water level. I have one and it's been great. It can be finicky at times, but you get to know your equipment and its nuisances.

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
