Protein skimmer help

My protein skimmer cup is very full and can’t get the bubbles to stop overflowing from the windows ? Making lots of bubbles!

What brand and model skimmer is that? How new is the tank? How new is the skimmer?

It is a Red Sea skimmer. If the height is maxed out, you could find a way to elevate the entire skimmer. You could find a way to restrict flow to the pump. Or you could cut back on the air flow.

If it were me, I would turn off the skimmer for a few hours and see if it acts normally when you turn it back on. Some times when you have just changed water, used epoxy, fed mysis the skimmer goes nuts.

Okay thank you, yah I ended up taking the skimmer completely out and taking it apart cleaned the pump, pump hose and air intake hose as well as the collection cup. Seemed to fix the problem for now, hopefully it stays working properly

It’s the Red Sea max c 250 skimmer, tank has been running for 5 years or so, skimmer as well

Elevate the skimmer. A simple method is to drill a hole in a rigid plastic cup to allow air to escape and place in sump area Upside down and place skimmer on top of it
