I have been in the reefing hobby for almost two years now and I currently have a 40 gallon breeder with a 20 gallon sump. Unfortunately, I can never pull the trigger on buying a protein skimmer for my tank.
I don’t want to spend a lot of money on a skimmer and can never find one that seems like a perfect fit. I’m also worried about the maintenance of skimmers and avoiding a mess as well as dialing and tuning the skimmer.
I would prefer a skimmer that is easy to set up and simple. I have been looking at the Reef Octopus BH-50 and the Aquamaxx ws-1 and would like to know of anyone’s personal reviews on them and if you have any other recommendations for affordable skimmers. Also, would putting two mini protein skimmers in a sump be a viable option?
