I have a fluval Osaka 260L. I have a fluval 406 canister filter that I run chemi pure carbon. 75lbs of live rock and 80lbs of live sand. I am in the process of adding a sump and the next step I need to figure out is what protein skimmer I need and want. I plan on having some coral and a medium bio load.

I am currently looking at the following name brands:
Skimz
Reef octopus
Tunze
AquaC

Are there any other name brands that are worth considering? What specifc model do you think would work best for my setup from the name brands above?

I want to make sure I don't get some cheap brand that won't last. I am not one that gets something cheap and ineffective just to have the piece of equipment.

Help would be greatly appreciated as I am new to the saltwater aquarium hobby.

I have both an aqua c and just got my first reef octopus...both are awesome! The only downside to aqua c is they require a large pump but work amazing! I just picked up the Sro 2000sss and its pulling out mud!

i love my aquac and would buy one again but the other brands are just as good

I just did the same research as you. It came down to Aqua C, Tunze and Reef Octopus. It was a hard decision, but finally decided on the AquaC. It was the best shape and size for my sump. Would love to hear what you decide on!

Get the biggest skimmer you can fit in your sump. It will save you alot of money later on when you decide to upgrade the size of your tank or bioload.

Aquac ev and reef octopus are very good. SWC skimmers are also a favorite by many local reefers.
