Protein Skimmer issues

Hello all,

I installed a protein skimmer a few weeks a go and it was doing well and producing skimate but it has not produce anything in the last 24 hours. It is a Lee's Protein Skimmer Counter Current, Medium. I am not sure why it is not producing anything. Any ideas of what could be going on?

Have you tried turning up the air flow?

I did not I had read that once you get it to make foam not to mess with the flow. Just seems odd that it just quit making foam. I guess I can try to turn it up a bit

You may have "caught up" with the amount of organics in your system. I've never played with air stone type skimmers but it isn't unusual at all to have to make skimmer adjustments to account for changes in your system.

good to know I will just keep watching it and hope it either caught up or will start making new foam

You also have to replace those wooden airstones periodically from what I've read.

I have a oceanic skimmer in my 16 gal which uses the wooden stones. I replace mine about every other month. You will know when to replace it, because it will clog up. You can get them on eBay fairly cheep.

Found them on ebay for 11.99 for a pack of 10. I hope that is the only issue.
