I am curious what everyones opinion is for your skimmers maintenance schedules.
I recently (a week ago) got a NAC5 skimmer. I made a quick sump redesign to house it with a constant water level and am in the process of dialing it into its new home. So not having had a skimmer of this caliber before what is the recommended maintenance schedule you all keep?

I only had a poor skimmer and I had to clean it often because it wouldn't make consistent skimmate and it would get huge buildups inside the neck. (was a crappy knock off HOB one )

Whats your thoughts? Clean every time i empty the cup or good cleaning monthly or?

Every time I pull the cup off to empty it I clean it. It takes a few hours to break in again, but it does a better job skimming that way as mine gets really dirty...

I don't take mine apart i just clean the cups.. Unless it is not being consistent like they normally are..

Clean the cup and neck bi weekly, along with the body using a bottle brush. I also dip the air intake tube into the sump once a month to clear out any salt build up.

Thanks all for replying. I will see how the first week in a stable sump goes. Right now its not producing much but I think I still need to dial it in a bit better. Its foaming up the neck but nothing over the top after about 6 hours or so of running. If no production in the morning I will adjust it again.
