Protein Skimmer Noises

Hi everyone! Looking for some help here. I have a 13.5g Fluval Evo. My protein skimmer has been making very loud rattling like noises. Any ideas? The water is filled about halfway up the chamber.

Do you have air in the pump?

Hmmm I am not sure. Is there a proper way to clear it? I have no fish yet, just dry rock so not risking any lives yet! Haha

I don’t know your skimmer specifically, but a lot of them (pumps) make a racket if they get air bubbles in the impeller. Some have purge instructions. Might be worth a look through of the pump manual.
