Most definitely not a must have on any take but even less useful on brackish. It can still have value for aeration and it can still pull out organics(though much less efficiently than in full salt setup), but as someone who uses skimmers on all my salt tank I would not use one on brackish in all likelihood.

I’d just make sure there is plenty of aeration to drive off CO2. I don’t use a conventional skimmer in my tank.
