How long has the skimmer been on the tank? I would take the cup off so its not pulling water out.
Did you add anything like a polyfilter, or rock work with epoxy? Sure there are other items that do it too but a 7:30 am cant thịnk of any.

1 year old tank nothing added but the wife was cleaning all weekend but knows not to spray close to tank. Thinking this maybe my problem.

Did something in your tank die? Skimmer set to high? Water level in sump higher that normal?

If something does it would be snails/crab maybe. Water level was good until this happened now higher than normal. Shut off skimmer and took 1st filter sock out while I’m at work. LFS coming to do water change and address situation. Due to long shifts at work.

Skimmers can be finicky, hopefully its just something simple and not a contaminant, are any parameters off?

It could be the socks. These are a cause of skimmer issues.

If something got into your tank. The best way to fix this is issue is by running the skimmer and leaving the drain line open. But of course have the drain line collect into a separate bucket. If you don’t have a drain line, continuously remove the head manual drain it. This always works for me. Takes some time but at least it works.

Also maybe run a little carbon. Best of luck!
