Protein skimmer or HOB reefugium?

Hello, I'm looking to get a new filter for my 38 gallon reef tank, I currently have an aquaclear 70 that just has some filter floss and carbon. My stock is also just 2 clownfish and a yellow watchman goby, and a few lps corals. I've been thinking about getting an aquaclear 110 and using it as a reefugium with some chaeto, or getting a hang on back protein skimmer around the same price. What would be best?

In this scenario, i'd probably go with a skimmer over the ac110 fuge mod.
