I have a 30 gal main tank with a 10 gal tank that holds my refugium.

Now I don't have much room in the 10 gal unless I put the skimmer in the refugium itself.

So should I look into a hang on skimmer for the main? Or do they make a skimmer the is external? Or find a nano skimmer for the intake space on the 10 gal?

You can fit a skimmer in there for sure. Maybe not a monster skimmer but that really isn't needed.

I agree with reefwiser, in my 40L I use a 10 gallon for a sump and use the tunze 9004 at 5 inch water level. it seems that any water level below 4 inches and the skimmer will not skim so be careful to buy a skimmer that will work well at lower water levels.

Do I put the skimmer in the intake or the refugium area?
