Im sure this has been answered before but my question is.... I have a HOB skimmer and was wondering should I be turning it off when I feed my fish ?

why would you turn off the skimmer? Unless its sucking up all of the food you're feeding let it be and let it do its job!

Well on the side of caution some foods can make your skimmer go crazy and over flow with it being a hob that is a problem as it will wind up on the floor.. so I would recommend you leave the skimmer off for a hour or so after feeding or mod the skimmer cup by drilling a small hole toward the top of the cup installing a barb fitting and attaching a hose that runs back to the tank. Actually I recommend you mod the skimmer cup anyway regardless if you turn off the skimmer during feed or not as its always better safe than sorry

Yea mine runs all the time I do have all the power heads for water movement on a power strip I turn that off so fish don't go crazy chasing food.

Fish will not like you :p
Most fish we have are all from the ocean and they are used to chase their food.
Don't be like that guy that make their fish lazy, let them chase their food.

I agree...I enjoy watching them having to chase down their meal. It's hard enough for us to truly replicate nature, the least I can do is make them work a little to eat!
