Protein Skimmer question

I have an Aquamaxc HOB skimmer on my tank and I am always adjusting the collection cup up and down. I have read that dry skim is best however I only seem to be able to get wet skim or no skim. Any suggestions? I worry that with no and wet skim that I may not be getting enough junk out of my tank.

When you say wet, how are you characterizing that?

How much liquid in, say, 24 h of wet?

1/2 to 3/4 of the collection cup, about cup of water.
