Protein skimmer question

After a year and a half I finally bought a Octopus 100-HOB protein skimmer. It started pulling skimmate straight from the start, but now it only pulls skim at various times, is that normal?

That would be normal, your skimmer is going to pull a lot of waste at first but after water is initially cleaned up the amount it’s pulling will decrease.
