Hey everyone. I am looking to upgrade from my current Bubble Magus Curve 5 but not sure which way to go. The curve 5 has been awesome but some of the plastic screws are starting to break off during cleanings.

Have a 65 gallon tank with a trigger systems ruby 30 sump. About 75 lbs of rock and ~20 of live sand. Two socks, GFO and carbon, Probably about a moderate stocked tank right now.

Looking for something with similar footprint, that's in-sump, and has pump contained within the skimmer.

Still on fence about AC vs DC.

Was looking at Nyos 120 but have read a lot of good and a lot of bad reviews.

Appreciate any advice!!!

I got the Reef Octopus classic 8" 202-. Its a great skimmer performance wise but air going is too noisy for my living room - Despite doing some modification to cut down noise by 60% I can still hear it.. Looking back I would likely consider going with Skimmz I believe they have better air silencer.. Depending on your budget I don't think you can go wrong with Skimzz, RO, Icecap, Nyos, and vertex.. All create bubbles and remove nutrients!

Thanks for the info. USMC 4 Life I thought of doing that as well but think I am just looking to upgrade it as well...might actually look at going to the Curve 7. Have you had experience with the Nyos 160 at all?

I ran a BM Curve 5 for a few months and the skimmer worked well but was very finicky to water level changes. If you can keep that consistent, I honestly dont think you'll find much better performance (they work). With that said, I swapped to a Deltec SC1350N (essentially a SC1351) and wouldn't change it if you paid me with one exception; parts availability. Two months ago the impeller took a digger and it took just over six weeks to get a replacement. I was ready to replace it with something with better availability but Marine Depot just came online as a distributor so availability should be a non-factor now.
