Looking for opinions on choosing one of the following three skimmers. I will be skimming about 80 gallons with a future heavy bio load.

Red Sea RSK 300
Skimz SN-143QP
Reef Octopus Essence S-130

Thank you!!!

I have not used any of these 3 personally. That being said, I have always been a fan of Reef octopus and have had good success with them. I have also had great success with the Bubble Magus Curve 5 Elite. This would be a good size for your tank and won't break the bank.

I like the look of the Bubble Magus (that kind of matters? lol), but it says 9.5-11" of water height in the sump. I am running the Trigger System Sapphire 26 and can only adjust to about 9"....I'm guess I shouldn't go for this one than correct?

I NEVER ran mine that deep. I have mine at about 8" and it works great! Just be sure to get the Elite model if you go that route. It uses a Sicce pump and is much better than the standard version.

Reef octopus makes good skimmers. I havnt used the model u have there but have the elite 220 on my main reef.

Now i do however run the redsea on my frag tank
Its a good skimmer has great fratures. Not the quietest skimmer but does the job. Easy to maintain

Noise is a bit of a concern for me. I know DC is supposed to rule in that regard (also tunability?) but not many options for me within an 8x10 skimmer sump area. That’s why I listed the Skimz, it’s the dc option.

Sump, very simple berlin method. The union you see is for my ATS thats offline right now.

Just tank. Sorry for all the blue, but my lights are just coming on for the day.

My sump in my waterbox frag tank is pretty small. I have gen one. So that limited my choices. I heard the nyos and skimz were not all that quiete as people said so i just got the red sea. I have mine turn off at night while sleeping. Its the noisest part of my frag tank. Once you turn it off. Tank is practly silent.

Good morning Reef! Thank you! That’s about 7” on the skimmer? 9-11” would sink the thing!

Actually just checked with a tape measure. I have mine is 8" of water. The fill line is for after draindown when I do a water change. My water level is not up to that mark, but rather lower where you can see the salt creep.

Cool, 8” I can do just fine. How long has the skimmer been in operation? Looking to see if it has some longevity in quality.

I've had it running 2 years, I think. Bought it new when they came out.

No worry about longevity as it has a sicce pump which we all know is a quality pump. Even if it dies, parts are easy accessible.
