I have been looking into getting a skimmer(probably should have gotten one already) for some time now and with a nice cyano explosion I finally ordered one. I am not able to run a sump so I went the HOB route and got the aquamaxx hob-1. It comes in tomorrow. Its rated for 75 gallons and I have a 50 gallon tank. Is this going to be sufficient?

Clown, bangaii cardinal, mandarin, and a tang about the size of a half dollar. But he won't be staying too long. And 3 montipora type corals.

I usually advise getting a skimmer rated for twice your water volume. If you overload your tank, it will not handle it.

What about live rock?

This skimmer is working like a champ. It's pulled out some nasty black ski mate withing the first 12 hours.
