Protein skimmer vs reactor

Oh...you mean the tank and add fuge inside?

I'm talking about a hang on fuge to an existing tank.

Yes my tank looks similar and could add a fuge in back compartment.
Yes.. why get an all in one and still hang things off of it? Spent all that money on a clean liking tank just to clutter it up with unneeded stuff.. use one of the rear chambers as a fuge.. remove a piece of the back light blocker tape and install a light.. done and still clean looking.. I’d also look for using a intank devider if the tank doesn’t have one already for the cheato. That way you aren’t diffing your hands into this small chambers trying to service and can pull the entire basket and everything in it at one time..

Filter floss and fuge and maybe some chemipure.. done.. no reason to need more then this on a nano tank.

I wouldn't! I had a hang on fuge years ago on a NON AIO.

I was just saying if the op was going to add a hang on fuge to be careful about the outlet.

You don’t need a skimmer for a 10 gallon it’s a waste of money just do a weekly water change and you’ll be good

Well thats your opinion I suppose but I use one in a 10g and it pulls gunk. Helps keep tank in order and don’t see it as a waste of money.

Woof I’m sorry to hear that, that’s why I got rid of the snails I had, one went over the intake once and it almost flooded the place! I would love to have a hob fuge, had one on my last tank. Next step is to find a custom one I guess ‍
Depends on the fuge. They usually have thumb screws and pipe out tend to have a bit of clearance. If you can find someone who does custom builds you can ensure it will fit nice.

If going for a hang on fuge word of advice. Make sure your algae, ie chaeto is prevented from entering the return pipe. It happened to me and it emptied about 15 gallon on to floor whilst i was on holiday (of course whilst on holiday). Pipe was part blocked and input was greater than output, as such fuge vol raised and poured over sides. It only stopped when pump became exposed to air which at the time was about half way down old style rectangular aquarium.

I do nothing for nitrate in tank and haven't tested water parameters in about 8 months. I ought to check it really. Mind you i can tell when water isnt up to par by looking at it.

I went with the AIO due to space restrictions and the wife loved the look, right now I’m just going to WC weekly until I see something else happen with the chemistry. I am just an equipment junkie in a way. My dream tank has a list a mile long and I can’t wait for that day lol
