IMO the best option its to go with a skimmer.!
i havent use a lot of skimmers. i only have a reef octupus. check them out!

Many people don't use skimmers if you plan on feeding moderate amounts and changing the water frequently. Remember the main reason people use skimmers is to remove excess organics in the water to keep excess algae from growing. If you can export them another way you can still keep a great looking tank. I know people that just do water changes and others that use algae turf scrubbers.
Then thats different. The in sump ones are better.

Acro killer.....
I would recommend getting a skimmer. Even if you do frequent water changes its nice to have that little bit of cushion if for a week you decide to skip a change or something along those lines.
