When we bought all of our stuff the LFS also put a protein skimmer in our “package”. I have attached a picture of the one I have. How do I set it up? I followed the directions, but when I plug it in the collection cup fills with white bubbles/ water. Am I doing something wrong?

Skimmers will go nuts at first as they break in. If it’s in right depth of water and air valve is set to lowest setting should be ok in some time. Not sure on your model but on mine max on sir us actually the low setting.
If your just cycling and getting tank going skimmers not gonna have much to rip out shouldn’t need it till ya start adding fish down the road

Just keep unplugging and dumping the cup as it gets full until it.... works? I’ll try turning the air down.

Just from design stand point that skimmer is going to have that issue a lot. But raising it will help some.

Skimmers work at different depths mine goes at 9.5 should be recommendation in instructions. If needed you could put egg crate under it to raise it. If your just cycling tank skimmer isn’t needed

We have fish. I wanted to start using it as our nitrates are getting high (20 ppm). There is no way to lengthen or make it shorter....

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
• The Specific Gravity is too high. Adjust to 1.018-1.025. • The use of additives such as water conditioners, medi-
cations, and algaecides are causing the bubbles to bond longer forcing more water than skimmate into the collec- tion cup.
• Replace cotton/carbon filter pad, talk to local fish store to find water conditioners and additives that will not affect the performance of your skimmer.
• Decrease the water flow with the outlet adjustment valves.
• Aquarium was just cleaned ( water change ) ; dump collection cup when full, repeat until skimmer functions properly.
• Decrease water level inside the PS-370 by lowering the protein skimmer water adjustment
