Any thoughts ? Had my tank for about 7 weeks. Just got a protein skimmer installed last night. At first I thought this was micro bubbles. But upon closer inspection it’s not. Any idea what it is/ if it’s normal? Been running for 16 hours. Wasn’t happening before I had the skimmer.

I can’t really tell for sure whether those are micro bubbles or not from the photo, but if you have ruled that out, might there be a lot of stuck-on-debris in your sump that is now being knocked loose into the system?

It can take up to a couple weeks for a skimmer to fully break in, microbubbles will generally lessen as it gets broken in. But other things you can do to lessen microbubbles is place the skimmer before a baffle or some filter floss. What kind of skimmer is it and what kind of tank/setup do you have?
