Protein Skimmers, should they be a fulltime thing?

JNS SK-2 Protein Skimmer which is also a Aquamax skimmer, great skimmer.
I only dry skim, the wet stuff removes too much good stuff.
Tank about 100g.
I'm also maxed out on fish.
SPS dominated, healthy healthy.

Try turning your skimmer off......forever. More and more people are realizing that the antiquated skimmer is the most overrated piece of equipment used on a reef tank.

Pump size maybe? They rate them for a reason no? I mean obviously the bigger the pump the more gph draw/push right? Or am I wrong?

There are so many variables to this discussion that you can not say set in stone one way or another. Yes people have succeeded with running skimmers 24/7 or for short periods of time or not at all. There are way to many ways to successfully run a reef. That being said I always have liked having a skimmer running 24/7 even on nano tanks where it really has little overall impact. Just personal preference and how I have successfully done things.
