Hello,

What is a good "reasonably" priced protein skimmer?

What do you look for in a good skimmer? What makes them good?

Thanks,
Steve

WHat are your tank spec that would help and also what is you resonably priced? Aqua C- Remor I her some like , my favand old stand by is Euroreef I love 'em?

i'm looking for H&S, b/c its one of the top of the line ones, and its not as expensive as deltec...yet...IMO built better and doesn't come with the "snob appeal" ;)

what size tank are you going to be using the skimmer on?

i perfer the insump skimmer to the HOB skimmers

right now i run a deltec, h&s and a euro-reef

The skimmer is for my 40 gal. breeder tank with a 20L sump/fuge.

What is H&S?
What are good suppliers?

I am hoping to spend no more than 150 to 175?

Thanks,
Steve

H&S is just a brand of skimmers (www.finsreef.com - among many other sites sell them - just partial to them since they are local to me but for you I know that Atlantis Aquarium in Richmond stocks them if you want to pick it up rather then shipping). I run a A150-2001 which replaced a ASM G3 I have been extremely happy with mine. They cost a little more then the average skimmer but in my mind are worth every penny.

the best small skimmer that i have used is the cs5-2 , es5-2, rs-80 euroreef

you can get a used one for about that price and they are producers for the price of the skimmer

these are out of your price range
H&S 90-1000 110-f2000

deltec ap600 apf600

also maybe look at the octopus models with needlewheels that are cheaper

I've got a euroreef CS 6-2 that I need to sell. :)

It'll end up a little more than what you are looking to spend but it's a great skimmer.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the input so far.

Which of these looks best for my 40 gal. breeder?

Hey Chad,

The one you are asking about is the first one pictured.
It is the Prizm Pro Deluxe .
It is rated for up to 300 gallons.

Steve

Prizm Pro -- local guy had one and it wasnt constant but a budy of mine had 1 and it did produce but he had to fiddle with it often (these are not close to be rated for 300 gallons)(usually sold for under 60.00 a local sold one last week was his first skimmer)

via aqua work-- i havent used one but from what i have heard they work

and the berlin turbo do work great on a big system never seen them on a small system like yours they are big so i would suggest you get a size so that it will fit
