protien skimmer size

I bought a protien skimmer (Venturi style) that is rated for 100gal tank and was going to be used in a 29 gal tank. I was given a 75 gal tank and will be setting her up soon and will use the 29gal for the sump. My question is will the protien be to small or can i get away with this one(trying to save money) I know that you should double the rated size on the skimmer. I will have a reef and fish set up. thanks.

That skimmer is basically worthless. Do your reef a favor and invest in a good skimmer.

My rule of thumb when I purchase a skimmer is it has to be rated 3x the tank water volume hth.
