I have a waterbox 20 and need to put a protein skimmer in. Anyone have any experience and or suggestions as to what brand /make/or model would work best in a tank this size? I am slowly building up my reef and would like the skimmer to be my next addition before i start to really add my corals. Any helpful advice would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks

What’s your nutrients looking like?
Skimmers are a double edged sword. If it’s the tank I think, water changes could be enough unless you want to go uln
Personally I’ve never put skimmers in tanks under 40 but I also stock light with fish.

my calcium stays at about 400/20 dk is pretty steady at 8 my nitrates jump up pretty quickly. I do a weekly water change but i want to add 3 more fish. I'm thinking a pair of helfrichi firefish and then a wrasse. after that i will only be adding corals but my concern is the increase of fish will warrant a skimmer. What do you think?

You could probably do well with one then. I try to preface all skimmer things with making sure people have nutrients to start off with because it can get depleted pretty quick if they don’t. I would definitely put something in there to address it if you got more fish.
I’ve used hob reef octopus and the eshopps nano before. I liked eshopps the best because of its small footprint but the reef octopus worked well for not having a sump.
