I think because of the flow it receives, the growth tips of my Cali Tort seem to be pointing directly towards my lemonade, like they're reeds in the wind.

I value the lemonade more and want to protect it. So, I'm getting ready to cut the Cali.

Do I just cut the tips that seem to be headed directly at the other, or, is it inevitable there will always be issues and try and relocate the whole Cali colony?

I see a Cali Tort frag sale in Jeff's future! If it's growing well where it is and the only issue is the growth direction, I would just frag it away from the lemonade. Just my opinion.

+1, it would also potentially cause your Tort to have better growth patterns.

I'll just clip the branches aimed directly at the lemonade then. Easy enough. Astonishing the apparent effect of flow on different species. Hope the growth pattern "improves".

THANKS GUYS!

If you don't want to sell/ give the frag you cut away, you can always glue it right back onto the colony. When I've had a colony shading another coral r growing into it, I've cut the whole top of a colony off, repositioned it, and glued it back on the base. It will grow over the glue point.
