PSA Scarus quoyi NOT reef safe

So I decided to gamble with Scarus quoyi and see if its as reef safe as claimed by my LFS and many online. It decided it couldn't be bothered with any of my coral except my open brain. I came home this morning to a tattered coral with chunks gone out of the flesh and right into the skeleton. Could just be this particular fish but it just started to eat coral yesterday after a few months in my tank. Not hard to find the culprit nothing else in my tank can munch on coral skeleton. At the very least it should be listed as reef safe with caution NOT reef safe.

Too bad but it has a huge beak to munch algae and coralline with. I suppose if your tank does not have enough algae… the zoo in a brain contains algae.

I recently added a ATS and an urchin so I have alot less algae than I used to. I still have some hair algae left and I feed nori dulse sea lettuce etc. Its always grazing the rocks glass etc. My tank is 6 foot long with at least 200 pounds of rock lots to graze but it is a pretty large fish and grows fast. With the amount of food available and the size of the tank I think its safe to say it wont be reef safe with fleshy LPS in most set ups (unless I just happen to have a fish that's a troublemaker). Perhaps 400+ gallon massive systems. Thought I'd give people a heads up as I did my research and the general consensus was it being reef safe.
