Hey everyone. So slowly over the past few months I've been trying various sps to see how my tank does growing them. My green birdsnest has been doing exceptional, my pink birdsnest doing okay, and my ORA Oregon tort growing slowly (But a lot of base encrusting).

But my real puzzle is coming from my green psammocora. I have had trouble finding a lot of info on them but the general consensus was that they weren't very picky, but did like high light and good flow. So I placed it around the corals listed above as they had similar requirements. Yet, I haven't notice any growth at all on it in the past few months. I have seen conflicting reports that it is a fast grower and a slow grower so I figured I'd ask here to see if any successful psammocora growers have any tips or tricks.

Also id be interested to see some other people's psammocora to get hyped for mine to grow!

Hello,

First off lol, I saw you this morning, and didn’t get to say hello, but your singing was just so amazing. It really made my morning go a little bit better.

Secondly, I am not sure about your coral, but if you give me an hour or so, I can find out for you, or share info with you and see if we already share the same info. But, my goal is to help you figure it out. :)

IME psammacorra, like leptoseris needs lower light than typical SPS but high flow like traditional SPS. Very easy to bleach and since it usually needs to be kept lower in the tank since todays lighting is pretty intense it can miss out on some decent strong indirect flow. Slow growing to start out but once acclimated and happy can pick up pace on growth and color.

I agree with this. I keep my psammacoras under ledges so they're up high enough to get good flow, but are sheltered from the light a bit.

@Sarah24! I was confused by your comment at first before I remembered my avatar pic lol. If you find anything out let me know.

@DSC reef and @Labridaedicted Thanks for the advice. Luckily mine is the only sps in my tank not glued down (since it was fragged on a seashell) so I will see if I can find a bit shadier spot for it.

Hello,

@FunWithFishes lol your such a goofball, lol. You know your in like my favorite movie aka Moana:), and I adore the song it’s so shiney, I’m actually singing it now, which makes it hard to write this, because I kept writing the lyrics to the song. Just curious do you still have Maui’s hook, he lost it again.
