psychedelic zebra chalice

fishypets: Did you begin to shade because the light was too much? Please describe. Any chance you have a quantum meter?

My convict was 42" from my two 6 bulb ATI p.m.'s in a shallow 8" deep tank and was bleaching a little so I have screened it around a month ago but it is not coloring back up like I would like. I was giving it 100 par in mid day and now i'm only giving it 25-40 par. One side of it is recieving 25 par and the other is recieving 40 par. The 40 par side looks better. The 25 par side is not coloring up. I just took those readings, yikes! 25 par seems way too low to me! These striped chalices are tricky for sure

Matt: What do you think happened to your piece? Too much fragging?

Sad to hear that the whole colony was a goner :(.. sure is a sweet piece and the mother colony shot made me wipe my drool in the computer...

Alpha,

I had placed it in the sand bed/center of the tank and honestly had forgotten about it. I was taking pictures the other night and realized it was back there and wanted to move it closer to snap a decent picture. I will say the orange is more intense than it was which makes me think it likes a lot of light. I'm not sure what the PAR is at the bottom of my tank but I have to be careful or I'll burn other chalices like the BGM/Miami Hurricane.

UPDATE!

Victor at WWC is the proud new owner of 1/2 this chalice! Thanks again Victor!

I'll have to trade you something for a piece back of that eventually. Still my favorite chalice to this day! The only frag pics I got..

Ex Convict?!?

fishypets: Those ATI pm's are super bright. How deep is your tank and how high is your light off the water? I really liked the color of my convict better under higher par but was given advice to shade it due to some minor bleaching. Lowering the par like I said hasn't helped but then again it hasn't gotten worse. My colony still looks good but I know its not as happy as yours. Good work and thank you for discussing this with me. Time for some more trial... hopefully no error!

A.C.

My tank is 26" tall and right now the fixture is about 18" above the water. I replaced my bulbs about two months ago and bleached out a ton of sps due to the extra "UMPH" I also reduced my photo period from 9 hours to 4 hours and so far the sps are responding very well.

The P.M. is a great fixture but sometimes it drives me nuts because it's way too powerfull! I never had this problem with M.H. 400W's I laugh out loud when people say T5's are too weak for sps and clams!

AAF= Austin Aqua Farms

Look back at some of the past post in the venor forums to see some of the sickest acan lords ever seen.

His site is empty now but he is expecting a large shipment this coming Friday.

And thanks for the kind words

Killer peice but I just couldnt spend that kind of money on a newly imported chalice. I know he lost the colony and some lost there frags :(
