I am sharing this story to provide safety recommendations for my fellow reefers. I had a near tragedy while doing a water change on my tank. Like we all do, I turned off my pump and MP40s and all electrical devices. I completed my 10 gallon water change and began to turn everything back on. As I plugged my MP40 back in and it started up, I observed my small fangtooth blenny peak his head out from inside my MP40 and then immediately get sucked back inside. I quickly turned it off and feared the worst because he was right where the impeller is. He then peaked back out and I was able to get him to swim out and he appears to be uninjured. I am just sharing this with everyone to remind you if you have small fish they can get into dangerous areas sometimes and to be observant during water changes. I had the anemone protective covers on my MP40s which close off the majority of the unit but not the very front part and small fish or snails can get in there. Please be careful with your watery friends.

Yeah everytime I turn my powerheads back on after a wc I give quick look to the powerheads to make sure no fish ( usually my cleaner wrasse is near them) just incase

this happened to me in freshwater killing half my tank cause the front of my powerhead wasnt guarded so i killed one of my pearl gouramis and the tank had a mini crash. at least my eel survived

my cat slithered in through a hole in a wall that made it so like he was with the pipes and wires behind the sink in ahotel once and they had to use a chainsaw to get him out & there was a hole in the wall through both sides lol
