I’m in Pensacola Florida right now and I was out collected washed up seaweed today as there seems to be a big storm coming and I found two little baby puffer fish. One is slightly bigger and grey, he also likes to burrow in the sand. And there’s a black one that doesn’t burrow. I know they’re puffers as I found them both puffed up on the land. I originally thought they were smoothback puffers but the darker one looks more like a least puffer and the lighter one looks a bit like a northern puffer fish. Sorry the pics suck. It sounds like a bad idea but I may end up keeping them. They seemed to be very dependent on the seaweed and now that it’s washed up they would most likely die, but I’m not sure.

You may need to ask reefsquad to get an exact id & best suggestions for what to do.

Yea I just ended up letting everything go. Even the nice macro algae I found. I would sill like to get an id on the puffers as they seem very interesting.

I️ think you have yourself at least one southern pufferfish. They often burrow in sand and are located around the gulf.
