puffers in reef tanks

Hi
I have a valentini puffer, he doesn’t mess with my corals but I do notice a few snails go missing (empty shells) he’s been an awesome addition to my tank :)

Which did you have the most luck with?
I kept the trade-common 4 or 5 Canthigaster sp. puffers in a large reef tank 10 years ago, and don't remember any of them being overly aggressive with their nipping of sps corals. It's going to be an individual basis on the fish you get, but they are easy to catch if it becomes a problem.

I love porcupine puffers I thought about it for the new tank I am setting up 650L peninsula 170 total gal but I dont thinks its large enough, but I did think about it for a moment.

I would love to hear about more ppl with puffers in there reefs pics are a bonus too!

I keep this blue spotted toby he is great. Leaves coral alone but loves himself a flipped over snail

I have a big porcupine puffer in my fowler. Every once in a while I take some clippings from my reef tank (chalice, xenia, gsp) and put them in the fowler as a test. None of them make it more than 2 days.

Are any of you keeping Puffers in your reef tanks? If so what kind & how have your experiences been?
I have a Valentini that doesn’t mess with my SPS or softies. He doesn’t really mess with my CUC either. He’s a lazy SOB. It’s actually a problem, cause he doesn’t want to peck at anything he has to work for. I have to work to keep him interested enough to keep his beak trim

I also would like one but I think all my shrimps wouldn't be happy. I have 2 cleaners that hang out and a coral banded and a few peppermints

That is mine too. It has a little bit of a break but in the nearly 4 years it has not gotten any bigger. I do through in a mussel or a clam a couple times a week

I have a Valentini Puffer who likes to surf my powerhead. He does it repeatedly and it’s hilarious. He also had a little day bed niche on the rock that he lays down and naps in. Scared me to death the first time he did that

The first time you see a puffer sleeping freaks you out. It still kind of freaks me out

The chance is why I am in this hobby. I definitely take chances with fish because I like them and find it creates an interesting thing to observe. I have had eels, triggers, puffers, angels in my reef tank over the years. Some are fine, some made it so I can't have 'X' in my tank anymore and others over time had to go (my eel got to be over 3' so it went to LFS)

I went the compete opposite route and got a cow fish. Hands down the coolest guy I've ever owned. He left everything alone including the shrimps. Best part was when I came home from work he would start swimming up and down in the tank and change from yellow to brown. When I would walk over he would spit water out thet top at me. So amazing!
