Hi, im upgrading to 180 gallon in about 6 months and cant seem to decide on how many pounds of pukani dry rock to use. It's a standard acrylic 6x2x2' with 16" shadow overflow. The tank will be barebottom. The stockings will be no more than 10 fishes of your standard clown fish and tangs. It will be softie and lps dominated tank. Thanks for reading

It's a general rule of thumb to go with a pound per gallon. Just make sure you cure that rock VERY well. Because it's so porous, it will have a lot of dead organics inside. It usually takes a few months if bought dry just to fully cure it.

180 lbs seem abit much considering how light pukani is. 30lbs of pukani took up half of my 30g tank

Agree, 100 lbs of Pukani should be plenty and you will likely have some left over.

Maybe go 80-90 pukani and then 30 or so pounds of shelf rock. The 2 together make some interesting shapes.

thanks for the input. just trying to get most of what i need while the sale on BRS is still going.

100 pounds of rock should definitely suffice for your tank dimensions, which is actually around 149 gallons if it is truly 6 x 2 x 2 feet as you listed.
