I just switched from two RW-15 to two QP16 pumps. It’s early on that I don’t know about their longevity. But I prefer the QP16 for random water motion generation and for the swaying motion you seek. They are better than the RW and PP pumps. The QP have a softer start when they pulse on and they don’t stop the prop in the “trough” of the wave cycle - they just slow way down. The SW may have this feature too.
The QP’s are German engineered (I read on the site). . I take that to mean Coral Box hired Germans to design the pump, and not to mean that China is ‘copying’ Germans.
The reason I switched is that one of my two RW15 pumps died. So I replaced it with a QP. I liked the QP so much that I pulled my working RW out to put on a second QP.
I like that I could buy the QP without a power brick ($70 total for pump and controller - no power supply)) since the existing RW power bricks fit/power the QP pumps.
Lots of YouTubers out there posting how the QP works. I have to say all the coverage I came across is not embellished.
BTW, I have a 6 foot long 135 tank fully stocked with rock and stony coral. I have a deep sand bed so I can only use these pumps at about 60% power. I use reef mode (sinusoidal ramp up and down of fluctuating speeds), pulse mode and the zero flow with the QP programmable schedule. If I just used steady flow, I would have to turn them down more because they would push the sand into big peaks and troughs. They already moved the sand a bit, but I can live with it. I have no other pumps in the display besides these two.
