I just got this one along with 8 other types of frags. All are thriving except my xenia. All water parameters are fine, I got them 3 days ago. It's place pretty high up in my tank. And the water flow is medium. Is it dead or could it still come back? Should I try a different placement?

I would place it lower in the tank with less light. I had it thriving in low light conditions years ago and when I switched to a higher power LED and a new tank it kept decreasing in size until it was all gone. Which didn't bother me as if giving the right conditions it can grow quickly and be a nuisance.

Just looks stressed to me. Move it lower in the tank to a spot without as much flow/light as it may get near the top. IMO Xenia will live through almost anything. I once had some hitchhike on a small piece of rock that went into my frag setup. I started that setup with dry rock and it was in the basement. That little piece of Xenia survived the whole cycling process and roughly 2 months with no light what so ever.

Give it some time some xenias can be like roaches and cant kill em no matter how hard you try I once did a water change with ro water by mistake they wilted like crazy but they are bigger and badder than ever once I remedied the issue have patience and goodluck!

I hate to tell ya but every time my xenia started to look like that, it eventually disappeared. some say they are like weeds but I can't get them to grow like crazy, I tried a few times with small frags like that, and in a matter of weeks they would be gone, I recently bought a big colony 2 months ago and it seems to be doing better.

Any update on this? Did it make it? I have those babies growing all over my tank. I have two growing in my 220 with the stock pet store strip light and who knows how old the bulbs are. (It's a fish only and a new setup so they just made the trip over from the display.) They were even in the garage for two weeks with no light and didn't die. They can be really hardy if the parameters are right. How old is your tank?

Start them off at the bottom in low to mod light. I did with mine and it took off! I moved it out of the shadow but kept it in the bottom and its doing great.

U will pay for corals Tho? U wanna save $ us ro water its only 2bucks for 5 gallon.

lol! as someone who used to use tap i can honestly say that may have been the problem with my older tanks
not saying it was but i have not used tap once in my new tank and my xenia are everywhere. My uncle who also used to use tap couldnt keep xenia alive either... just my own exp!
is your salt consistent meaning what you use to change your water?
like an idiot i would get saltwater where i was closest to that day and that ruined my tanks! not saying thats what your doing just some prior trial and error!
GOODLUCK!

I had some years ago. I used ro water and reef crystal salt. Mine grew like crazy. I would take them to LFS every 2weeks to trade off just to keep them from taking over my tank. The LFS lost some once. The LFS guy told me they could not handle ph or temp swings. About a year later my tank crashed everything died I tried everything. I final found out that my heater went bad. I don't know where you live but ro water here is 1$ for 5gal. Water stand in different parking lots 8 Stange filtration
