Pulsing Xenia

I can see from a search this topic has been done to death! Thing is, I really want some in my tank. The waving hands are what attracted me back in the 90's on my first saltwater 29 gallon tank. I never could afford Xenia frags then (110 bucks!)

My tank is about 2-3 months old. 2 clowns (FP) I purchased gasping at Petco - they are doing well! and Cleanup crew. Oh and Pepe the Coral Banded Shrimp. 32 Gal Biocube.

I just want to add Xenia. Bad idea? Even if bad idea, a good source for them? I just rid the tank of a frag (yeah pet store) of what I thought were zoas and turned out to be palys - I don't need that drama. Wife had a bad reaction in the 90's from grabbing my anemone.

I love them too and also made a similar post.

I had them in my 13.5 gallons but wasn’t sure if I’d put them in my 75 gallons. In the end I figured what’s the point of doing all this if you can’t even have what you like in your tank ?

So I put them (I have three) on their own separate island and I will trim them when they start going elsewhere. Their island is a medium rock, easily accessible. So I will just remove it, scrape whatever has to be scraped and put it back in. If it gets too much, I’ll just bleach the rock.

Go for it! They will be easy to reach and trim in a 32g. Especially if you can just lift the rock out. Actually I just ordered some pretty red Xenia from marine farmers as it looks pretty unique!

Mike C had a few kinds in his softy tank and his was a large tank.

I love them too, just stick them on a rock island and enjoy!

I’m the same as you, I said I wouldn’t add it to my large system of mainly SPS etc in case it takes hold, but I just love the movement

So I’ve added some on a rock of its own which can be moved around and away from anything else as it grows

Just keep an eye on it.
