So my return pump died today so I am in need of a new one. What would you guys recommend for a 100gallon fish tank. I may add corals later. please let me know what size tubes I need also .
Thanks
Luis

my old pump was in submersible in my sump. what would i need to do to have this external one work? Drill the side of the sump and run pipe to the pump?

holy crap on the price anything a little less expensive? I under stand you get what you pay for but i am a little strapped for cash.

also how many gph am i suppose to look for?
is it 10 times the tank size?

Eheim or Ocean Runner, nothing else as far as submersibles. Mags run hot, are noisey and consume too much power, Quiet Ones have restart problems plus I have had two of them literally go up in flames. Via Aqua and Rio Hyperflow both had the magnets swell up where the impeller would not turn and nothing else afordable I found came anywhere close to its advertised flows, head rating or power consumption or ran so hot it raised the tank temps.

+1 I have this running a manifold in my sump for the past year and have had no issues. Another great pump that is in between this one and the Reeflo listed above is an Eheim 1260 or 1262. They are in the $150 range but reliable as hell.

I use the 3000 for mixing saltwater and weekly water changes. It's gotta be over three years old and is still like the day I took it out of the box. Pretty good pump IME.

Oceanrunner is what I liked when I ran submersible pumps. More efficient even then the Eheim.

i just saw that someone in the for sale section has a barracuda for around 170 is this a good deal and should i buy that if they still have it?

I run a Eheim 1262 but could have got away with the 1260. I have the 1262 throtled back.
