I was looking for a cheaper larger pump for water changes to pump water 20 feet to the bathroom instead of hauling buckets. I was wondering if anyone had recomendation for a pump type/size for that head pressure but reasonable priced. Not wotried about noise or controllable.

If you dont have much headpressure a mag drive pump or a waveline dc pump work great. I use both and they are awesome for this exact use

PanWorld 100PX

IMO I doubt the mag drives will push 20ft high.

I use a Mag 9.5 attached to 50 ft water hose to move water around my house. Getting water to go 20' ft up may be a problem though.

If you cut the end off a garden hose, it fits perfectly around 1.5" vinyl tubing. Only cut the end where the water exits because, you want the end that screws onto a bib or pump. I also made a PVC adapter that hangs on the tank that attaches to the hose so, the hose wont fly out of the tank when draining or filling. There is a ball valve on that to control water as well. It makes a world of difference when you have the right tools for the job.

Nah its not 20' high I said that a little misleading it goes up about a 4 foot staircase it's about a 20-25ft run is what I ment to say

I'm afraid the pan world might be a bit much for what I want would a mag18 be able to self prime if it was on the ground and just stuck a hose in the tank say 6 foot off the ground

So any consensus on a pump that can help with water changes? I am looking to do the same thing for my 150 to avoid buckets.

I have a mag7 and it was just barely pushing up a full flight of stairs...
mag9.5 or 12 might be strong enough to do the job.

I have a similar set up with my water mixing stuff in the basement. I use a reflo dart and am very happy with it.

So maybe a 9.5 would pump about 30 feet and up about 66 or 8 feet total?
umm, a 9.5 max full vertical head height is rated for 10 feet with a shut off at 15 feet...

you can buy any type or brand of pump you like or want, just research the pumps flow rating vs head height.
that's the only way you will find something that fills the needs of the project you have intended it to be used for.

I use the 20 dollar aqua top pumps. 400gph versions.

I bought a pack of remote control outlets (5pack) with a remote.

Button 1 drains the sump. Button 2 refills the sump

Button 3 drains the sump in tank 2, Button 4 refills the sump in tank 2.

Button 5 turns the mixing pump on and off.

My water change routine only requires me to turn on and off the rodi line to the mixing station, pour in the salt...and push buttons.

I just bought 2 more pumps so that I can pump water directly from the DT in to a QT tank and I guess I'll have to use buckets to remove water from the QT because I didn't design my system with drain lines for a qt.....

It will spend more time as a 40g emergency tank than as a qt probably
