I use the jaebo dc pump as a return as you dont need to gate it down like an ac constant pump. You can adjust your return with the controller.
I have a sicce pump on my skimmer bc its constant.

I think its personal preference since there are so many good ones now a days.
I prefer tunze but have used, quite one, in the past with no problems.
I think its like everything else in this hobby. There alot of good products and it just comes down to how much you want to spend.

In addition to all of the pumps that have been mentioned, you may also want to look at the Reef Octopus Varios, EcoTech Vectra, and RossMont return pumps. If you are looking for circulation then you may want to look at the gyre type pumps.
